You may have gotten used to it but your friends aren’t shy about pointing out that rotten odour in your car every time they hop in for a ride. Stinky clothes can be thrown in the wash, unfortunately, getting rid of car odour isn’t quite as simple. In order to stop the odour, you need to track down the source… but this can be an extremely difficult task. Here are a few cheap, easy methods of getting that stench out of your car using readily available household items.
- Ground Coffee Beans
Grind up some coffee beans, place them into an open bowl and let them sit in your back seat overnight. This is a great way to get rid of unwanted odours, however, your car may end up smelling a bit like your local Starbucks. Also, be sure to remove the bowls from your car before driving. The last thing you want to do is clean ground coffee beans out of your car’s upholstery! - White Vinegar
Not so fond of driving in a mobile coffee shop? No problem. Replace the content of the bowls with white vinegar and let sit overnight. You get the same results, without that coffee smell. Like the coffee solution, you want to make sure to remove the bowls before driving. - Crumpled up newspaper
Out of vinegar? Tear a few pages out of your Monday paper and stuff them under your seat. We don’t know the science behind this one but it sure does work! - Let the professionals take care of it
The above solutions are all TEMPORARY fixes. To stop the odour permanently, trust in a detailing professional. They will be able to track down the source of the smell and get rid of it for good.
